Dutch company invents DJ booth that can be installed in parks

One step closer to an electronic music utopia...

A Dutch company has designed a DJ booth for use in public places.

As you can see in the video below, it seems that the people at Yalp want to create an electronic music utopia where people are free to come together and dance in the sunshine for free.

Well, that's what they seem to be up to with Fono, which is what the outdoor booth is called. It's been installed in parks in Holland, Finland and Denmark and is aimed at young people, who can rock up to the booth and play music stored on their phones.

It kind of looks like your average playground shelter, but closer inspection reveals it to be way cooler. The CDJ-style decks feature FX and sync and cue functions, though users won't be able to change the pitch of tracks. That's not half bad, though.

Judging from the video of one in action, the sound is pretty tinny and the functionality a little rudimentary, but it's still an outdoor DJ booth, that you can plug two iPhones into and have a mix on. Round up some mates and several tins of Polish lager. Decent!

But the guys behind the invention say they came up with it so that young people can get outside and get creative with music, so you'd have to fit in any pre or after parties around kids clanging together trap records.

Watch the promo video and a demonstration of how the Fono works (and sounds) below.
