If you're a frequent festival attendee, you're familiar with the headache of trying to communicate with friends via Snapchats and iMessages on shotty cell reception. AT&T has revealed a solution they've been working on to solve these capacity issues, and it involves drones.

Dubbed "flying COWs" (short for "cell on wings"), AT&T envisions deploying these new drones in order to "[provide] LTE coverage at large events or even rapid disaster response". These drones could be especially useful in situations where traditional vehicles have a hard time accessing a location that needs service.

Earlier this year, AT&T started deploying drones to inspect cell towers remotely. Now that they've seen success with that project, hopefully the company can expand its use of drones to make the next festival experience more convenient.
