A new DMX track with Swizz Beats and French Montana has been released

A new track by the late rap icon DMX, in collaboration with Swizz Beats and French Montana, is out now.

It’s titled ‘Been to War’, and features on the soundtrack of the second season of Epix TV series Godfather of Harlem, a crime drama starring Forest Whitaker as 1960s New York City gangster Bumpy Johnson.

The track is hard-hitting, starring DMX’s potently delivered bars on top of an atmospheric beat.

It arrives a week on from DMX’s death, from a reported drug overdose that led to a heart attack which deprived his brain of oxygen for a fatal amount of time.

Tributes have been paid to DMX from across the rap and wider music world, including ‘Been to War’ collaborator Swizz Beatz, who shared a length tribute on Instagram, describing DMX as a “different type of artist, different type of creative, different type of soul.”

This week it was announced that DMX will be honoured in his hometown of Yonkers, New York with a street or statue named after him.

His family also warned his fans that scammers are trying to use his name to make money following his death.
