Italy’s Luca Roccatagliati, aka DJ Rocca, presents his first release on the Rothmans label.
‘The Marco Tardelli EP’ is a three-tracker that also includes a remix from his long-term collaborator (and master of the cosmic disco scene) Daniele Baldelli.
The real highlight, though, is ‘400 Fonk’, on which the producer heads straight for his analogue drum machines to lay down a mid-tempo electro-disco rhythm track – and in true Roccca style, he underlays it with a bouncing, arpeggiated baseline to create the main groove.
The lead, which is yet another killer bit of the kind of mono synth programming that Luca is becoming renowned for with his productions, is a Johnny Harris-inspired odyssey with added modulation.
