Acid house originator DJ Pierre has announced his debut album
‘Wild Pitch: The Story’ is a collection of originals and remixes old and new
Get Physical will release Chicago-born DJ Pierre's first ever album, due out on November 24.
The album documents the acid house originator’s journey as an underground music producer from the 1980s to the present day. It compiles a spectrum of tracks including a cover of Donna Summer’s ‘I Feel Love’ from 1977 to new 2017 remixes and remakes.
DJ Pierre, real name Nathaniel Pierre Jones, is widely acknowledged for his ‘Wild PiTcH’ remixes which also feature on the album. The remixes are recognised for their long intros, layers of strings, repetitive vocal samples and hypnotic sounds.
Pierre started out in the early 1980s with his friend Spanky in their hometown Chicago. The two put together a group called Phuture and created their own sound, creating 'Acid Tracks', considered the first acid house tune.
DJ Pierre plays next month for Amsterdam's Awakenings ADE at Gashouder on October 20. Get tickets here.
