DJ Marky
The drum 'n' bass funk master returns with the irresistible 'Silly', taken from forthcoming album 'My Heroes'
Yes. It's the return of DJ Marky. The Brazilian magician's been in the studio, wrapped up his debut solo artist album and is set to release it just in time for those summer BBQs, parties in the park and rooftop raves.
Although he's no stranger to an LP - don't forget he hooked up with fellow Brazilian XRS for 2004 gem 'In Rotation' - this is the first time he'll be releasing his own, with his label Innerground Records its home. What can we expect? That unmistakable drum 'n' bass funk of his and a couple of disco-dashed numbers.
Since grabbing the attention of V Recordings boss Bryan Gee back in the 90s, Marky's established himself as one of the biggest d'n'b artists in the world, no question. He's worked with Total Science, S.P.Y and Bungle and held residencies at The End and Fabric, the latter where he still serves up huge names and badboy tunes at DJ Marky & Friends.
One of those tunes that you've probably heard in the past few months is 'Silly' and now you can listen to it in its full glory. Gleaming with Latino groove and armed with a super sweet and sultry vocal, this one's had an absolute rinsing at Mixmag HQ and no doubt it'll be blasting out of soundsystems all summer long.
'My Heroes' is released on June 15 via Innerground Records and you can catch him at Fabric on June 12 with S.P.Y, Calibre and more
