DJ Exotic was shot while performing a show in Cali, Colombia, over the weekend, El Tempio reports.

The Cali-born artist, real name Daniel Alejandro Salinas, was playing a DJ set in front of around 200 people at Rey de Corazones, a motel close to Jamundí on the evening of Saturday, November 2, when he was attacked.

DJ Exotic was performing alongside several other artists at the afterparty of another show that took place earlier in the evening. Police reported that the attack occured in the earlier hours of the morning on Sunday, November 3.

Colonel Carlos Oviedo, commander of the Cali Metropolitan Police, said (via El Tempio) that the attack took place at around 5:30AM. “A patrol that was passing in front of this commercial establishment heard gunshots,” he said.

“They entered and found that, apparently, as a result of a private party, a fight broke out, leading to shots being fired,” Colonel Carlos Oviedo said.

Police reported that one person died inside the motel where the event was taking place, while two more – including DJ Exotic – were injured. They were taken to Cali hospital Valle del Lili Clinic.

Weapons including a rifle, a revolver, and pistols were seized on the scene. Police are also looking at how these firearms entered the motel building, threatening sanctions against the establishment.

According to El Tempio, DJ Exotic underwent surgery after his attack. He posted a photo on Instagram just days after the incident, writing: “We continue to give everything with our heart and best energy. Go for more.”

Police are currently carrying out an investigation into the incident. On Wednesday, November 6, El Tempio reported that a 23-year-old man was identified as a suspect.
