Diplo set to retire the Diplo name?
Diplo doesn’t want to be Diplo anymore; he’d rather be Major Lazer
In a new piece published by Interview magazine this week, Diplo has discussed how he hopes to retire the Diplo name, during a conversation with producer Rick Rubin.
However the producer explained that he doesn't plan to slow down anytime soon, announcing that he will flash drop his record with Skrillex next week, alongside the fact that he has been working on a host of other projects. These include work in Trinidad and Jamaica during their carnival season, with Major Lazer.
On the Diplo name, he said: "I'm trying to retire Diplo material at this point. Diplo has a ceiling in Vegas, but I'm so proud of Major Lazer - the way it sounds, the way it's mixed. I feel like if I devote my time to that, it could grow."
The Major Lazer cartoon premiered earlier this week, and the trio's third record 'Peace Is The Mission' lands June 1.
