Digitalism
'Mirage'
7/10
It’s been a decade since Digitalism burst onto the scene with their high-octane strain of electro.
Tracks such as ‘Zdarlight’, ‘Pogo’ and ‘Home Zone’ defined an era, and the German duo were at the forefront of the revolutuon during the genre’s heyday. After what seems like an eternity, they’re back with their third album ‘Mirage’.
But while it’s amazing to see them back in action, the sound that they’re pushing has remained in the same place as they left it all those years ago. It’s as much a pop LP as it is electro, with sugary sweet tracks such as ‘Arena’ and ‘Go Time’ as suited for a highlights reel on the Football League Show as they are for this summer’s main stages.
If you’re a fan of the pair then bangers such as ‘Dynamo’ will excite you, and while it may not be Album Of The Month quality, the sheer magnitude of the release makes it hard to ignore. If you want something rougher around the edges, though, this isn’t for you.
Boys Noize is still your boy for that.
