The first shop was founded by Anthony Nyland and Carl Emery in response to the corporate commodification of music and has built its success off the back of the duo's vast experience in record dealing, DJing, band management, making music and label running.

The shop is embedded in the Liverpool music scene and has already gone beyond Bold Street, where their flagship shop sits, before it embarked on its expansion in West Kirkby. Dig Vinyl have managed pop-up shops at Albert Dock, David Bowie World Fan Convention, We Out Here Festival and Independent Label Market.

Dig Vinyl also hosted a regular radio show on local community station Melodic Distraction, which recently announced it would be ceasing operations with immediate effect. The station had opened a bar and event space to help finance its broadcast in 2021.
