Chicago’s hallowed Smartbar is set to host a special tribute event honoring legendary house DJ and producer Frankie Knuckles with musical support from leading local dance music influencers.
Organized by Smartbar's weekly Queen! party crew, in association with FKF & Def Mix, the event will feature performances by Derrick Carter and Ralphi Rosario, both of whom, along with Knuckles, helped guide the house scene during the early years. Gramaphone’s Michael Serafini also joins the bill with Lady D, Garrett David and many more on January 15.
In 2015, Defected Records honored Frankie's legacy by releasing a retrospective album, 'House Masters: Frankie Knuckles', featuring a collection of tracks hand picked by Knuckles before he died.
All proceeds from the For Frankie! A Celebration Of His Life event will go directly to the Frankie Knuckles Foundation.
