Damian Lazarus & The Ancient Moons

Inspired by his extensive travels, Damian Lazarus's new LP brings together a diverse cast of collaborators from across the globe. Unsurprisingly, it's a musical melting pot, with all manner of live instrumentation worked into Mayan mantras, pattering micro-house and tribal soundclashes. SMD's James Ford co-produces and the depth and clarity of sound doesn't get much better. Like most dance/world fusion albums, there are weaker tracks, like odd pop number, 'Tangled Web'. But 'Message From The Other Side' still represents a display of progressive mastery that brims with finesse and leftfield invention.
