Daft Punk to premiere never-heard-before track at Paris’ Pompidou Centre

Daft Punk will premiere an unreleased track at Paris’ Pompidou Centre tomorrow.

'Infinity Repeating' features vocals from The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas and US rock band The Voidz, and is set to appear on the upcoming tenth-anniversary reissue of their final album ‘Random Access Memories’.

The Pompidou Centre has particular significance to the French duo, whom at aged 17 attended an "Armistice" house music event on the roof of the Beaubourg museum complex.

The event, which was headlined by Andrew Weatherall and featured sets from Daren Emerson and Charlie Hall, introduced Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo to house music — according to the pre-face of 2011 graphic novel The Song of the Machine written by Bangalter.

Bangalter recalls: “We weren’t yet 18 and we were finally going to a rave […]. The night was called ‘Armistice’ and the venue was magical; on the Beaubourg roof with a bird’s eye view of Paris [...]. At last we would discover, on a decent sound system, Chicago house and Detroit techno, the dance music which would change our lives.“

Three decades on, the centre is set to premiere the track via an ultra-high-fidelity listening experience, in luring a cinema screening of an "accompanying video clip," according to The Pompidou Centre.

Earlier this year, the duo surprise-dropped previously unreleased track ‘The Writing of Fragments of Time’, an eight-minute-long demo consisting of audio from rehearsals, offcuts and behind-the-scenes chatter between the Robots and collaborator and UKG legend Todd Edwards.

Continuing on a run of unreleased material, a studio outtake of Nile Rogers collaboration ‘Give Life Back To Music’ was released to the public last month, along with a press statement alluding to Daft Punk's desire to “give listeners a look at the evolution of the track, and showcase the importance of all of the elements and how they work together to create the final result.”

The tenth anniversary special of ‘Random Access Memories’ will be out on May 12, with even more unreleased work yet to be revealed.

The listening event at Paris’ Pompidou Center tomorrow is free with more information available here.
