Daft Punk debut out-of-this-world 'Contact' music video

Daft Punk have shared a new music video for their 2013-released track 'Contact', which featured on their acclaimed album 'Random Access Memories'.

The visualiser premiered on YouTube last week (November 7), and comes as part of the French duo's partnership with video game Fortnite, which has also featured an "immersive" in-game experience emulating their 2007 Alive Tour show.

Created by Fortnite's developer Epic Games and digital design studio Magnopus, the music video features visuals from Daft Punk's in-game experience alongside a clip of the robots flying through space — a nod to the 2013-released track's opening sampling audio from NASA's Apollo 17 mission.

According to Polygon, Magnopus consulted Daft Life - the company which acts on behalf of Daft Punk - to produce the music video and ensure it aligned with their "creative vision."

The video landed amidst a latest flurry of online speculation around a potential Daft Punk reunion, after Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo - formerly one half of the duo - was credited as a composer and writer on Rosalía's recent single 'Reliquia'.

Last month, his former duo partner Thomas Bangalter performed his first DJ set in 16 years, in a b4b with former Daft Punk manager and Ed Banger Records founder Busy P, as well as Erol Alkan and Fred again.. as part of a Because Music showcase at the Centre Pompidou, Paris.
