D. Futers
Feel-good garage-house fusion from new Natural Sciences offshoot
As you might expect with a label that uses a dolphin as its logo and hosts releases from artists named Aquarium and Warren Raww, Natural Sciences puts out music that feels like it’s immersed in an aqueous haze.
The Manchester-based imprint has impressed in its short lifespan with releases that glide through the realms of ambient and roll through the murky depths of acid-fuelled techno alike. Honcho Alex Hall has developed a reputation as a tastemaker, placing emphasis on undiscovered talent, scouring SoundCloud for cuts that are rough around the edges and produced from a place of passion.
Natural Sciences’ next venture sees the formation of sublabel Dolphin Traxx. Durham-based producer D. Futers takes charge of the debut release with a Jekyll & Hyde two-track EP fronted with a low-slung garage-house fusion and backed by a forceful jungle-powered beat on flip.
We’ve got the premiere of A-side ‘I Care’ which underpins a feel-good piano melody and sugary garage vocal with a stomping kick then soaks it all in Delroy Edwards-esque lo-fi cloud. Check it out below.
Natural Sciences will host its first London label party at Bar A Bar on June 4 with Aleks, Antonio, DJ Bong Gozling, Space Afrika and Alex Hall, grab your tickets here
