Danielle Moore, lead vocalist and frontwoman of Crazy P, has died aged 52, the group have confirmed.

In a statement posted on social media earlier today (September 2), Crazy P confirmed that Danielle Moore had passed away last week in “sudden and tragic circumstances”.

“We are devastated to announce the unbelievable and shocking news that our beautiful Danielle Moore has died,” they wrote. “This happened on Friday afternoon August 30th.”

They added: “We cannot believe the news ourselves and we know it will be the same for all of you. She gave us so much and we love her so much. Our hearts are broken.”

Hailing from Manchester, Danielle Moore was one of the most prolific female vocalists in dance music in the UK, performing as part of Crazy P for the past 20 years.

After joining the group in 2002 alongside bassist Tim Davies and percussionist Mav Kendricks, Crazy P released a total of seven studio albums blending house and disco.

Crazy P toured the world together, releasing several remix albums and hit singles including 2011's 'Eruption' and 2015's 'Like A Fool'.

In a 2023 interview with Disco Pogo, Moore said: “I’m 52 this year, and I sometimes find myself up against the idea that I’m not ‘steady’ or ‘settled’. I’ve experienced more than a few raised eyebrows. But I know I’m so lucky with my life. Would I swap those travels and memories and music for anything? Would I fuck!”

In a statement following her death, Moore's bandmates wrote: “We need time to process that this has happened. Danielle lived a life driven by love compassion community and music. She lived the biggest of lives. We will miss her with all our hearts.”

Tributes are pouring in from the likes of Sister Bliss, Róisín Murphy, Optimo (Espacio), Simon Dunmore, Bill Brewster, Dan Shake, and more. Read some below.
