Crackdown on party boats in Ibiza and Magaluf

Drug raids for partygoers

Following last month's raid on Amnesia Ibiza, the Spanish police are cracking down on party boats that take Brits and other tourists on excursions around the Mediterranean Sea. The crackdown comes after an X-rated clip from one of the party boats ended up on a porn website.

Recently, two police speed boats were seen honing in on a party boat, boarding the vessel and then breathalysing the Captain and ensuring that no “hippy-crack” otherwise known as nitrous oxide was being sold. The police have also emphasised the captain’s responsibility to make sure that all drunk party-goers disembark properly and ensure they do not consume illegal substances.

The clampdown follows recent new rules implemented by the Spanish police to stop street drinking, especially with stag do’s in San Antonio and the Majorcan resort, Magaluf. Officers are showing concern that tourists are avoiding these sanctions by going on the party boats.

Of all the boats that have been raided, there has been no evidence of illicit behaviour and drug taking.
