New compensation platform launched for festivalgoers
FestProtect will help buyers claim compensation for issues such as weather-related cancellations or excessively large crowds
A new compensation platform has launched to help ticket holders make claims following festival cancellations and other issues.
Launched by StubHub as an expansion of its FanProtect Guarantee scheme, FestProtect will allow ticket holders to claim partial or full compensation if issues such as weather-related cancellations or excessively large crowds occur.

The system is tiered and based on the type of complaint. "Tier 1" will cover large-scale issues such as severe weather cancellations and last-minute artist dropouts. Festival-goers who purchased tickets via StubHub may be allowed access to future festival tickets or tickets to a future event with the artist they missed.
"Tier 2" is designed for overlapping set times, which force fans to miss an artist they planned to see, while "Tier 3" will address smaller complains such as long queues, blocked views and extremely busy crowds. If fans who complain are eligible, they may get upgrades, rewards, or future festival advantages.
Festivalgoers who want to make a complaint must provide evidence, such as a photo of bad weather or a screenshot of set times, but not all complaints are guaranteed to end in rewards or compensation.
Speaking to the Financial Times, Jill Gonzalez, Head of Consumer, Product and Tech Communications at StubHub, said “FestProtect was created to support fans through the natural unpredictability that comes with live events and help them feel more confident saying yes to festival season.”

“In fact, nearly 80% of festival-goers told us a protection program would make them more likely to purchase festival tickets, reinforcing how important flexibility and peace of mind have become for today’s fans.” Find out more about FestProtect here.
