William Stover, the producer behind the Chicago house classic 'I'll Never Let You Go', has died.

Friend and fellow producer Chuck E. confirmed Stover had passed away with a post on Facebook on Monday (July 8), writing: We lost another great House Legend, William 'Chubby' Stover."

Chip E. confirmed that Stover had "experienced many health issues as well as surgeries" in the lead-up to his death, but had sadly passed away on Saturday (July 6).

Stover was best known for the single 'I'll Never Let You Go', released under his pseudonym William S on Trax Records in 1987, as well as his work alongside Lindell Townsell – with the duo releasing on Trax as well as West Madison Street Records and Housetime Records under the alias Two Of A Kind.

In his tribute, Chuck E. recounts being introduced to Stover in 1985 by Trax alum Carl Bias – who features in a picture above the post along with the two other men.

"From that very first meeting, Lidell and Chubby became my left and right hands regarding live performances as well as music production."

"He will be greatly missed in the community," he continues. "My sincere condolences to the family, friends, and fans of this great man. Love you Bro. RIP"

Underneath the post, DJ, producer and JAM98 Music director Hugo Hutchinson reiterated Stover's impact, writing: "Damn....People have no idea how much music he was behind. Hell, it was his equipment we were using. Truly one of the nicest people you'd ever meet."
