A 60-feet tall mural of the late DJ and fashion visionary, Virgil Abloh has been unveiled in Chicago.

Titled ‘VIRGIL ABLOH “WILD STYLE” GRAFFITI TRIBUTE MURAL’ Statik has previously created other murals and street art pieces around Chicago, including ones of MF DOOM, Prince, and more.

“I’m deeply affected when I see any fallen peer artist within my age group that I feel like their career was kinda cut short,” said Statik in an interview with Fox 23 Chicago.

“The world will miss what else he had to offer as a creative individual.”

Levar Hoard who oversaw the project told Complex that “Virgil was also somebody who reached back into the community all the way up to his last days,”.

Hoard added: “He was communicating with people. Direct messaging them. Texting them.”

"As rarefied as Virgil was, there aren't a whole lot of examples of role models especially among Black men, Black creatives, that have reached the level that he has," said Hoard.
