Man of the year Carl Cox may be stepping back from the Ibiza spotlight but he's strengthening his ties to Australia's festival scene.

Coxy has just joined new festival Babylon as a partner, helping to curate the music program and shape the event's ethos, alongside playing extended sets at the Victorian and New South Wales branches of the March camping weekender.

“I am super excited to be part of the Babylon family. The magic of a three-day camping event is something every Australian music fan should experience, especially in these amazing locations. Words can’t describe the fun to be had with friends at such gatherings," he said.

"I travel to and play at Burning Man regularly, and many other destination festivals of this kind, so I am proud to be a part of Babylon and I am looking forward to playing an extended set in the spirit of an outdoor journey like this."

Babylon is the latest project from Stereosonic founder Richie McNeill's Hardware Group, which has also paired with Cox on his bespoke PURE events, also set to expand next year, and will be held in picturesque bush locations in both states.

Magda, Dave Clarke, Michael Mayer, Joris Voorn, Claude VonStroke, Danny Daze, Late Nite Tuff Guy and Space Dimension Controller are among the artists previously announced for Babylon, which will go head-to-head with fellow newcomer Pitch Music & Arts from March 10 to 13, 2017.

Babylon dates and locations below. For more information and tickets, head here.

10-13 March - Northern Grampians, Victoria
10-12 March - Capertee Valley, New South Wales
