Carl Cox has contributed three tracks to the score of a new adaptation of George Orwell's Animal Farm.

Directed by Andy Serkis, Animal Farm is described as an "animated comedy" with an "alternative coming-of-age" plot compared to the political allegory of its source material, and features voice performances from Seth Rogen, Gaten Matarazzo, Steve Buscemi, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Laverne Cox and Woody Harrelson.

Animal Farm, which is also marketed under the name Animal Farm: A Cautionary Tail, premiered in the US last year to generally unfavourable reviews, and will hit cinemas in the UK and Ireland today (July 24).

In a series of clips shared in an Instagram post yesterday (July 24), Cox spoke with Serkis about the three tracks he's created for the film, entitled ‘The Rogues’, ‘Drone Farm’, and ‘My Bunker My Party’. Cox previously contributed his track 'Carnage' to Serkis' superhero film Venom: Let There Be Carnage in 2021.

"We've got your incredible, dancefloor, three-deck wizard magic coming into the story at a brilliant point where everything starts to turn and the pigs take over, and it's just beautiful really," Serkis tells Cox in one clip.

"For me, I think it was quite easy to be able to adapt my music to the messages," Cox says in another clip. "Because I was left free to be able to create the music, to the ideal of the pieces that I was given and that was fantastic."

In one clip, Serkis asks Cox if he has an appetite for writing "more music for films" following Animal Farm's release, to which he replies: "I would do, because I kind of like the challenge of it. I'm given a storyboard and it's like, so where do we go with this now?"
