Applications for free music production course at Camden’s Roundhouse now open

Renowned Camden music venue, the Roundhouse, has opened applications for its free music production course.

OnTrack is an intensive seven-week programme designed to give young people the skills, knowledge and networks to break into the music industry.

Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 25 and not currently engaged in education, employment or training. No previous music-training skills are required for the course.

This exciting programme promises to give students insight into music composition and production through a mixture of workshops and masterclasses with industry professionals. From songwriting to mixing to recording, successful applicants will gain hands-on experience in some of the key skills required to make music, expanding their creative potential and broadening their musical network along the way.

Another key part of the course is its focus on music business and promotion. Specialist tutors will provide guidance and advice on how to market and brand yourself as a musician, demystifying a side of the industry that can be difficult, but important, to understand.

“I don’t think there’s a course like this, not just in London, but in the UK,” said Angus Miller, Senior Youth Facilitator in 2017.

“It takes you out of your comfort zone and you experiment so much,” said Olivia AU, alumni of the 2014 programme. “It brings the best out of you.”

With a long and successful history, having nurtured many budding musicians, producers and songwriters over the years, this course plays a vital role in levelling out the music industry by giving young people an opportunity they may not otherwise have access to, and breaking down the barriers that might prevent them from gaining success.

In doing so, OnTrack is helping to pave the way for a new generation of creatives.
