Boris Johnson on coronavirus strategy: "You should avoid pubs, clubs and other venues"

UK prime minister Boris Johnson has advised the public to avoid pubs, clubs and venues in his latest coronavirus press conference.

In a change in strategy from last week, Boris has suggested people avoid all unnecessary social contact, as well as saying those with coronavirus symptoms should now go into quarantine for 14 days, rather than seven.

The UK PM said: "Now is the time for everyone to stop non-essential contact with others, and to stop all non-essential travel. We need people to start working from home where they can and you should avoid pubs, clubs and other venues".

He also suggested stopping non-essential travel, for people to work from home if they can and for older and vulnerable people to socially distance themselves for 12 weeks in a bid to avoid contracting COVID-19.

This comes after a host of festivals and events have been postponed or cancelled, leaving DJs and artists with little to no shows, and reports that the UK would ban large gatherings.
