Blood Orange remixes Sugababes' 'Same Old Story'

Blood Orange has been on remix duties for the Sugababes. Yes, you read that right.

This week, Dev Hynes unveiled his remix of the garage-infused pop banger ‘Same Old Story’, taken from the Sugababes’ legendary ‘One Touch’ album.

In celebration of the album’s upcoming twentieth anniversary, the Sugababes have been releasing several remixes of their classic tracks. Blood Orange follows MNEK’s remix of ‘Run For Cover’, which was released last month. An anniversary edition of ‘One Touch’ will be released on October 1.

In classic Blood Orange style, Dev Hynes’ remix lays the original sped-up vocals over sparsely recorded piano before breaking into a tight garage beat. Emotive and dancey, it reinvigorates a timeless pop classic while reminding us of how good the original really is.

Founding Sugababes member Siobhán Donaghy has said of the remix, “Dev’s music has become the soundtrack to my life in recent years. For me it was a no brainer to ask him to be involved in our anniversary project given the amazing experience of working with him previously with the girls and also knowing that he grew up with ‘One Touch’ and understood the record. The brief was simple, pick whatever track you want and do whatever you like with it. For me he has delivered the perfect 2021 update to our sound and I’ve had it on repeat ever since.”
