Björk launches new Echolalia exhibition at The National Gallery of Iceland

Björk has officially launched a new exhibition at Listasafn Íslands in Reykjavík, The National Gallery of Iceland.

Having first opened to the public on Saturday, May 30, the Echolalia exhibition consists of three large-scale audiovisual installations, including one "developed from material connected to her forthcoming 'musical work'".

The other two installations are described as featuring "deeply-personal" written works in memory of Björk’s mother, Hildur Rúna Hauksdóttir, a prominent homeopath and environmental activist who passed away in 2018.

Back in April, Björk clarified that Echolalia, which had been speculated by fans to be the name of a new album, is the name of the exhibition and an echolalia rave off-shoot, which will take place in her home country during the total eclipse this summer alongside Arca, Sideproject and Ronja Jóhannsdóttir.

While explaining this to fans, Björk also confirmed that a new album is in fact in the works, and material that features in one of the rooms is a "version of a new song". 'Ancestress' and 'Sorrowful Soil', which featured on her 2022 album 'Fossora', will also feature as part of the exhibition.
