Berlin's Renate to hold "soft reopening" this month

Berlin's Renate has shared details of its "soft relaunch", just weeks after owners confirmed it would reopen this year as a rental agreement was reached with the building's owners.

On Friday, January 30, Renate will host the first of two relaunch parties, with Amy Dabbs, DJ CHICHI, Hanna Baertig, Multifun, OLIV, Salty DJ, and SAM playing across its "Red" and "Black" floors.

The second will kick off the next day on January 31, and will feature an additional floor, "TOP SECRET", hosted by E.P.I.Q. Collective. David Fogarty, GTI, Bell Towers, Richii, and more also feature on the line-up.

Renate temporarily closed following an 86-hour closing party on December 31, after 18 months of uncertainty over its future. In August 2024, the team behind the venue announced that it would close permanently after 18 years at the end of 2025, when its lease was due to expire.

However, in December, Renate confirmed that it had secured a new agreement with the owners of its Friedrichshain home, with owner and CEO Robert Kreissel sharing in a statement that “details beyond the fact that Renate will continue in 2026 are still in development.“

”We need to essentially restart the club, rebuild the team, reorganise organisational processes, start new bookings and plan for a future that has come as a welcome surprise," Kreissel's statement continued.

Alongside confirmation of its soft reopening, Renate has teased details of renovations to its "Green floor", sharing a glimpse of the work in progress via a post on Instagram.

"For now, the Green floor will be closed for the foreseeable future while under renovation, but the rest of the club will operate as normal. Everything will feel the same, but different," the accompanying caption reads.
