Berlin nightclub Kater Blau is entering a “new era” as it undergoes a rebrand.

The riverside club said in a statement to Resident Advisor that it plans to “evolve” after more than a decade at Holzmarkt 25 in Friedrichshain, rebranding to ‘Kater’.

They explained: "The Kater sound has always been colourful, melodic and open to experimentation. Now, we allow it to evolve even further."

Kater Blau first opened in 2014 from the team behind former Berlin venue Bar 25. The open-air club bills itself as a “home for electronic music and hedonism”, and a “sanctuary where everyone is welcome”.

"We aim to create room for broader expressions of rhythm, identity and belonging,” the venue told RA. “Still playful, still driving, still unmistakably Kater but with new nuances that speak to a contemporary, international and more inclusive crowd."

Kater will celebrate its 11th anniversary this month with a 76-hour party, taking place between August 22 - 26. “Get ready for a looooong weekend on the floor: quality housey vibes will keep you dancing til Tuesday,” the club announced.

The line-up for Kater’s birthday celebrations includes DC Salas, Austin Ato, Denis Horvat, Anja Schneider, Anjawah, and several back-to-back sets over the weekend.

“76 hours, one club, two open airs, one restaurant and a whole lot of birthday mischief. Expect big smiles, sweaty shirts and top-tier sound all weekend.”
