London-based DJ Benji B has been tapped by the BBC Natural History Unit and Radio 1 to score footage of Planet Earth II.

Along with creating the mix, which features music from the likes of Carl Craig, Flying Lotus and Actress among others, Benji also chose the footage and edited the video content himself. The landscape scenes used in the 30-minute piece is all unused drone and aerial footage from the wildlife documentary series.

The project was particularly exciting for Benji as he referred to Sir David Attenborough, the Planet Earth narrator and renowned broadcaster, as one of his “greatest heroes of all time”, going further by adding “to do a project in connection with him was absolute bucket list stuff for me”

In other news, Benji has curated the first compilation from his Deviation series, named after his popular weekly radio show. Tracks by Radiohead, James Blake, Sampha, Midland Jamie xx and more are included. 'Deviation Vol. 1' is set for release on December 16, find more information here.

Carl Craig will also co-host a three-hour special of Benji B's Radio 1 show on December 8.
