Newcastle-based Ben Prophet has announced his third EP, 'I NEVER LIKED METAL', via Happy Wax Records.

Set for release on July 5, the four-tracker traverses hard-hitting, grungey techno with tripped-out vocals to boot, with its lead eponymous track paying homage to Prophet's previous single 'King Of Rock' - also released via Happy Wax - which, according to his social media, "literally changed my life from something that was nothing more than a dream to becoming my full time career".

"Over the past year I've been putting together what I feel is my strongest hard hitting selection of tracks that I possibly could," Prophet continued on his Instagram announcement post.

"This EP all fully stemmed from me just trying to take my music to the next level and focusing on breaking some boundaries," he says, speaking to Mixmag. "Happy Wax will always be like family to me and being able to release with them again is some serious buzz! I’m super excited to show you all what I have coming out the rest of the yearl it’s going to be a big one."

"Ben and I's friendship took off when he shared some demos with me," adds Jack Stummer of Happy Wax. "Among them, one track stood out: 'King Of Rock.' I was instantly hooked. My instincts screamed 'hit', and within minutes, I messaged him back, eager to sign the track immediately! Fast forward, 'King Of Rock' has become an iconic track in the Happy Wax Records legacy. I'm beyond thrilled to have such a talented artist back on our label roster."
