Beatport to close Beatport News and streaming services
The auction of the site has been suspended as well
In light of SFX's bankruptcy announced in early February of this year, Beatport was placed up for auction and most recently, the sale was postponed until May 26.
Today, Beatport has announced the suspension of the auction as well as several major changes that the platform will undergo starting May 13. Likely in attempt to reform Beatport away from its consequent losses from the dismantling of SFX, the platform plans to shut down its Beatport News extension, its streaming services and mobile app (which also includes video streaming) and finally, its Events section of the site.
In an official statement, Beatport has stated its plans to refocus on the chief component of its site - the store - and has already implemented improvements allowing the site to run up to 51 per cent faster.
