Lists are a big thing in the electronic community, whether it be a top 100, world's best or genre favorites, everyone gets a ranking.

More often than not, most people feel these grades are rigged popularity contests aligned by industry insiders or mainstream media.

Beatport has just launched its yearly poll with a stark difference from competitors: A best-of-the-year list voted by DJs, for DJs.

The 'Best of Beatport 2016' starts by genre and aggregates nominees by top sales on the site. Once an artist's top five favorite genres are chosen, options are given for each.

Among the options are tech house, techno, drum 'n' bass, electro, indie dance + nu disco and more. Nominees span widely across each category, with artists like Claude VonStroke, Eats Everything, Nicole Moudaber, Audion, Carl Craig, A-Trak, KiNK, Bicep, Dixon and DJ Koze.

There will be one winner per genre, announced at the end of December. See full details here.
