Beatport adds melodic house & techno as a new genre category

Beatport has announced the addition of its new melodic house & techno genre in an effort to help its customers seek out the music they desire more efficiently.

With a multitude of sounds being dispersed amongst Beatport’s deep house, techno, house, tech house and electronica genres, honing in on specific styles of dance music has proven to be an increasingly difficult task on the music discovery platform.

Since September of 2016, Beatport has combated this issue by adding a slew of new genre categorizations including: future house, trap/future bass, garage/bassline/grime, leftfield bass, leftfield house & techno and afro house.

The addition of the melodic house & techno genre will allow users to find the heady and brooding sounds of artists like Stephan Bodzin, Patrice Bäumel, Oliver Koletzki, Kölsch, Mind Against, Matador, Dixon, Tale Of Us, Solomun and more.

“With a new home for melodic house & techno, we’re also excited to take Deep House back to a sound more closely aligned with its origin story,” says Beatport Label and Artist Relations Director, Jack Bridges. “These improvements are all part of our ongoing mission to streamline the Beatport experience for every kind of DJ.”
