BBC Radio 1 receives Chris Price as new Head of Music
Geroge Ergatoudis has stepped down after 10 years
Chris Price, previously Head of Music at Last.fm, has officially been announced as the new Head of Music at BBC Radio 1. Former Head of Music George Ergatoudis held the position for over a decade and announced at the end of 2015 that he would be heading to Spotify as Head of Content Programming in the UK.
To fill George Ergatoudis' shoes is no easy task, but Chris Price seems up for the job. "I'm thrilled to be joining the BBC to continue the incredible work it does breaking new music, as well as steering the networks' music strategy into the next phase of its digital future," he shared.
Price will now oversee both BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, which collectively claim an enormous audience of over 10 million listeners. Price will be the head behind determining new emerging acts that will debut on the station as well as provide editorial direction for BBC Radio 1.
