The Obamas are throwing a one-day festival with SXSW
A proper White House dance party
President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle will be throwing a one-day music and arts festival this October in collaboration with SXSW.
The outspoken music lovers are dubbing the event South by South Lawn and will feature music, film and interactive components held at The White House.
Obama shared his day and night summer playlists earlier this year, boasting deep passions for jazz, R&B and classic soul.
The President has also been vocal about interests in house music. He and Michelle penned an open letter of condolence to Frankie Knuckles and his family after the iconic DJ's passing, citing that "Frankie's work helped open the minds and bring people together, blending genres to capture our attention and ignite our imaginations".
Although the official line-up has not been announced, one can be sure no artist is going to turn down that performance.
Attendees for the Obama's South by South Lawn festival will be chosen through online nominations hosted by the event's organizers. Learn more here.
