A giant NASA space blanket is heading to Burning Man
"Under the Blanket, there are no strangers."
Russian architect Sasha Shtanuk has started an Indiegogo campaign to help bring his 10,000 square meter reflective silver NASA space blanket design to this year's edition of Burning Man.
Referring to the project as 'The Blanket at Burning Man', the large reflective sheet consists of 3,350 ultralight polyester NASA space blankets that soak up 97 per cent of all radiated heat. The Blanket will provide a massive shaded area where attendees can "relax, chill, have a nap or dance" during the day and will be "constantly changing its silhouette through the power of wind".
The project needs to raise $17,500 for materials, an excavator, equipment rental and transportation costs from Russia to Black Rock City before the end of the week.
