Apple Music has introduced a new feature that allows users to import playlists from other music streaming services, including Spotify.

Introduced as part of the recent iOS 18.6.2 update, Apple Music users in the UK, US, Canada, France, Germany, Mexico and Brazil can now add "songs, albums and playlists" to their account via a third-party service.

The feature, which had previously been beta-tested in New Zealand and Australia, is available via a setting within Apple Music labelled: "Transfer Music from Other Music Services".

According to a description on Apple's website, users will need to turn on Sync Library across their devices to use the feature, which is available via iPhone, iPad, Android device, or on the web.

However, the tech giant has warned that some content may not be available via Apple Music, though the feature offers users the opportunity to "find a match" within its library for 30 days after transfer.

While users can now import playlists created themselves, they will not be able to import playlists created by another music service.

The update comes amid growing boycott calls for Apple Music's biggest competitor, Spotify; several artists and labels have removed their catalogues from the platform in opposition to CEO Daniel Ek's significant investment in a military start-up company.
