"Drunken madness": Annie Mac’s stolen USB has been returned to her
The USB was taken at her Before Midnight club night back last month
Annie Mac has taken to Instagram to thank the person who returned her USB, after taking it from the booth at her own Before Midnight club night.
Taken on December 9, the former BBC Radio 1 DJ had publicly appealed for the USB "containing decades worth of music" to be returned to her last month — stating that there would be “no repercussions”.
Today, Mac posted on Instagram an image of the missing USB stick confirming its return alongside a handwritten note.

The note reads: “Really sorry for distress caused. We haven’t accessed it. It was a moment of drunken madness. So sorry.”
Mac captioned the post explaining that it's her “oldest” USB and that it was stolen whilst she was standing “just a few feet away, chatting to attendees.”
She continued: “The music was backed up badly, over four laptops. It would have impossible to replace as it was, music filed gig by gig, set by set. More than the inconvenience caused by the theft, the whole thing felt so discordant with the spirit of the evening, which had felt so joyous up to that point.”
Her statement reveals that before Christmas she received an email about the USB which she claims was down to a “drunken mistake.”

She adds: “Now it’s in my manager’s office waiting for me to pick up. I’m so glad, and relieved that it wasn’t some calculated malevolent act. It was a drunken mistake and by god haven’t we all done those in our time. To whoever you are, thank you SO much for sending it back. And to those yelling at the screen right now, yes I will back it up properly!”
The statement concludes: “Also I wanted to thank the DJs who reached out to me to give me music to replace what I lost - so generous - you know who you are!”
The club night that saw the USB go missing was part of Mac’s new series, Before Midnight which has people raving from 7PM until midnight as it’s aimed “for people who need sleep”.
