Anastasia Kristensen launches new label "absorb emit"

Copenhagen-based DJ and producer Anastasia Kristensen christens her new label, absorb emit, with its first single, 'Cordyceps Disco'.

'Cordyceps Disco' is the eponymous track of a four-part EP set to release on November 14. The tune combines AI vocals and made-from-scratch textured samples to build Kristensen an imaginary club set within a retro-futuristic utopia. The release will be marked with a music video, where Kristensen channels "exotic fungi princess vibes" in the near future.

The EP, made amidst the backdrop of constant anxiety and dystopia of the past few years, uses Kristensen's sound design skills to transport the listener to her imagined futures. The project is the culmination of years of reflection and disillusionment with the post-pandemic world, with the title a nod to the brain-eating fungi in HBO series 'The Last of Us'.

The DJ and producer stated that the record is a direct result of working on her mental heath, surroundings, and attitude to people.

The EP marks a bold new chapter for Kristensen in that it is the first release of her new label absorb emit. The label will continue her tradition of gathering sounds from a vast array of influences and researching off-grid electronics.

This year has already seen the Danish artist grace venues such as RSO, The Cause, Rex Club and The White Hotel, and is showing no signs of letting up with the release of her latest record. Kristensen will close out the year with gigs in New York, Mexico City, Stockholm and more, with an exciting Bodies NYE party lined up at ÆDEN.
