A new research endeavor by StubHub has collected data on 50 of the world's biggest music festivals to see just how much their official capacity has grown since they first started out.

The research has found that of all the world's most popular music festivals, Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) is the event that is growing the fastest overall.

ADE started with an overall capacity of 300 in 1995. Now, the event has grown to encompass the entire Dutch capital with over 70,000 registered attendees and upwards of 2,500 acts from around the globe performing in hundreds of the city's best clubs and venues for five days and nights. Overall, the 23rd edition of ADE in 2018 welcomed a record-breaking 400,000 visitors to the city of Amsterdam.

Looking at its growth percentage since its inception in the mid-90s, ADE shows an astonishing 23,233 per cent increase in attendance. Insomniac's massive dance music event EDC came in second place with a 2,600 per cent participation mark up since its debut in 1997.

When it comes to music festivals that have grown the fastest in the shortest amount of time, the winner goes to Madrid's new and elite Mad Cool Festival. Since starting in 2016, the event has added an average of 11,000 people to its capacity each year.

The survey also states that at the moment, EDM is world's fastest growing festival genre.
