With just over one week until A Tribe Called Quest releases their final album, ‘We Got This Covered, Thank You For Your Service’ - and first in 18 years - new details have surfaced that will let fans know what to expect.

Revealed via the New York Times, the album will feature a stacked list of collaborators including Kendrick Lamar, Elton John, André 3000, Jack White, and Busta Rhymes.

When discussing the recording process Q-Tip recalled that it was emotionally hard on him, as his partner Phife Dawg passed away earlier this year. “It’s so hard for me to sit in there and hear his voice. Sometimes I just have to like take a break and walk away. It gets heavy. It doesn’t necessarily get sad, it just gets heavy. I literally feel the energy from him when I hear his voice."

Although Phife lived for his music, many members of the group believe that the recording process took a toll on the legendary rapper as he had to travel to get to the studio, which likely played a factor in his death. “Doing this album killed him,” said Jarobi White. “And he was very happy to go out like that.”

Just last week Q-Tip announced the group’s forthcoming album via a handwritten letter posted to his Facebook. ‘We Got This Covered, Thank You For Your Service’ will be their first in release in 18 years and is set to drop November 11.
