A licensing meeting for Junk Southampton is happening today

Police have asked for the venue's license to be revoked

Southampton club Junk will know more about its future today after a licensing panel meeting.

Two stabbings outside the venue led to police asking for its license to be revoked, while residents nearby the venue have complained about noise and criminal damage in the surrounding areas.

Other things included in a police report are 23 assaults and four drug-related offences, although the club disputed the latter by saying "any mention of drugs in the report are incidents where drugs have been seized and handed over to the police."

The Daily Echo reports that the club's closing time could be changed from 4am to 2am if the license remains in place. If the license isn't revoked, though, police have apparently called for the current management team to be replaced.

Since being threatened with closure, not a first for UK nightclubs, a petition has been launched to save it, with a party taking place last weekend to garner support.

The licensing meeting takes place today in the city's Civic Centre.
