29 people reportedly hospitalised at Avicii concert
It is believed people fell ill through drugs and alcohol at the Toronto event
29 people were reportedly hospitalised at an Avicii gig in Toronto on Saturday night. Toronto media outlet CTV News reports that most were sent to hospital due to excessive alcohol consumption while one concertgoer at the Rogers Centre was treated for drug use.
It is believed that Rogers Centre medics originally treated those that fell ill, five who were in serious condition, but had to call upon the Toronto Emergency Medical Services (EMS) when they became overwhelmed.
Toronto city councillor Giorgio Mammoliti placed the blame with promoter Ink Entertainment, questioning the decision to make it an all-ages event. "This only proves that it doesn't matter whether these events are held on privately owned or government lands, they are dangerous events to hold as 'all-ages,' allowing kids to be present."
One arrest is also said to have taken place at the event.
