Speaking to The Bolton News, a local member of the Horwich Clean Up Brigade, Ian Rotherham, said: “I went to bed at about 10.30pm and I could hear it then, I’d have thought it would be too cold and wet for them!”
He added that those in attendance “did a good job in clearing up”, leaving only a few bags worth of rubbish on the site after the local clean up team attended later that morning.
A local told The Manchester Evening News: "When we went up to bed we could hear the drum beat. At first we thought it was more near to us, but we found out this morning it was at the folly Liverpool Castle."
