While many parties, locations and artists are accredited with being massively influential forces on modern dance culture and music, Larry Levan’s weekly Paradise Garage party in New York City between 1977 - 1987 is without question one of the earliest and most dominant.
Having just celebrated their 40th anniversary this September, it has just been announced that the location of famous party on 84 King Street in the Hudson Square neighborhood of Manhattan is scheduled to be demolished. Currently owned by Verizon, the planned destruction of this historical landmark for dance music is truly a sad state of affairs.
