$15,000 reward offered for information on newborn baby found dead at Electric Forest

The FBI is offering a $15,000 reward for information surrounding the discovery of a dead infant at Electric Forest Festival in Michigan last month.

Last month, Michigan State Police confirmed that the body of a newborn baby was found inside a portable toilet at the festival on June 28 following a routine maintenance check.

The deceased child was discovered by a member of staff in the camping area of the festival, which was taking place at Sherwood Forest in Rothbury, Michigan.

Police soon confirmed that an investigation had been launched, believing the incident to be isolated. They asked anyone who may have "observed anything unusual" to come forward.

A suspect has yet to be identified. Police have now offered a reward of $15,000 for any information "leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible".

In an update shared earlier this week (July 13), Michigan State Police said that there has been "much speculation regarding the circumstances surrounding this incident", but confirmed that preliminary autopsy findings indicate that the child was "viable and born alive".

"We are confident that continued investigative efforts, combined with forensic science, will ultimately lead to the identification of the person responsible," they said.

According to People, a woman from Muskegon was questioned by police following a tip-off, but has since been released. No further information has been shared at this stage.
