100% Silk shares statement on Oakland fire
The label took to Facebook, calling the incident “an unbelievable tragedy”
Californian label 100% Silk has released a statement following the devastating fire which blazed through Oakland venue the Ghost Ship on Friday night, where some of its artists were performing.
The label founders took to their Facebook page showing love and condolences for those affected by the “unbelievable tragedy.” They also posted information on how people can help the victims and stay in the loop.
On Friday night the fire took the lives of nine people, with 25 currently still missing, and the number of victims is expected to rise, according to local authorities.
The Ghost Ship venue was a creative hub for artists but apparently was not fit for residential living or parties, with illegal interior infrastructure and no working sprinklers or smoke alarms, which made evacuation difficult during the fire.
The headliner Golden Donna, shared a Facebook update claiming he was safe but some of his friends have not yet been found.
