For the first time ever, we took The Mixmag Lab to Cape Town last month alongside Bridges For Music, a non-profit organisation who help to empower underserved youth through music and education. Arriving in Langa, South Africa’s oldest township, on May 28, the debut Mixmag Lab Cape Town marked a special moment for everyone involved.

Taking place at Bridges for Music Academy and powered by AlphaTheta, our Cape Town debut featured both BFM alumni and rising stars on the line-up, with Athie Umgido, CA MA GU, and Nyala all appearing on the bill, alongside a headline set from GRAMMY Award-winning artist Zakes Bantwini, who closed the show with a momentous performance.

“To hold the very first Mixmag Lab in Cape Town at the Bridges For Music Academy, in Langa Township, is an honour and a privilege,” says International Development Director at Mixmag, Nick DeCosemo. “Bridges For Music is a wonderful organisation, doing great work in uplifting electronic music culture and providing education and opportunities for young people across Southern Africa. We could not be prouder of this partnership.”
