What went down at Afro Nation’s spirited 2026 edition with Havana Club

Sandy beaches, sun-licked stages an a world-class offering of Afro-diasporic music styles are what makes Portugal’s Afro Nation such a spectacle year-on-year. For its seventh edition, Havana Club brought enchanting experience to life on site, inviting festivalgoers into the world of Barrio Havana Club.

Bringing the flavours and sounds of Cuba to Praia da Rocha in Portimão, Havana Club continued its summer run, which is seeing the brand pop up at more than 23 festivals in Europe, with an immersive experience drawing on the energy of Cuba's streets. Barrio Havana Club transformed part of Afro Nation into a small-scale neighbourhood akin to the streets of Havana, inspired by the vibrant colours of Cuba and the soundsystem culture it adopted in the ‘90s.

Also inspired by the wider soundsystem culture of the Caribbean and the collective energy of La Cubanía, an expression of Cuban spirit and resilience, Barrio Havana Club brought a pocket of Havana to life at Afro Nation with DJ sets, rum tastings and much more, all while serving up the Golden Mojito, a "contemporary twist" on the classic cocktail made with Havana Club’s signature dark rum.

Afro Nation took place this year from July 3 - 5 at Praia da Rocha with a run of star-studded guests including Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tyla, Asake, Kehlani, Uncle Waffles, Focalistic and many more across the weekend.
