Welcome to Mixmag’s Tinnitus Awareness series.

In line with the annual awareness week, we published a series of articles and videos exploring the issue of tinnitus in the music industry and ways you can protect yourself.

The series was designed to demystify a health condition that's interwoven with the music industry but isn't talked about enough by our peers and colleagues. shedding light on its impact for artists, industry professionals and music fans alike, as well as explaining the condition, its causes and preventative measures.

How custom moulded earplugs are made:

If you work in music or regularly visit noisy environments such as gigs, clubs and festivals, then you should ensure you’re protecting your ears. Earplugs, especially custom moulded to fit your ears, are the best way to ensure your hearing doesn’t get damaged and you don’t develop tinnitus.

“While crafting this visual identity, I delved into the design history of visualising sound, acknowledging prior research on this topic was crucial. Using this as a foundation, I developed the visual idea by blending and distorting colors to depict the feeling of experiencing tinnitus. Using a diverse range of colors was essential to represent the broad spectrum of musicians, styles, and genres in the industry.”
